In India, the hills stations such as Darjeeling, Shimla, Ooty or Nainital during summer are well known for enjoying the cold weather. Now soon, there is one more hill station, which is going to get popular in the coming years that is a planned city billed as India’s first hill city since Independence and the name is Lavasa City. This is going to be India’s first hill station after independence as the previous ones were developed during the British rule. It is being urbanized in accordance with the divisive Hill Station policy passed by the Maharashtra government. This project is being urbanized by Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) near Pune within the Western Ghat ranges and is spread over 25,000 acres (100 km2).
The design of the city is based on a man made environment without disturbing the intrinsic nature of the place and considering the natural vegetation, existing topography and permissible building heights. The expansion commences from a thickly populated town centre and gets scattered as it goes uphill. The advantage of Lavasa city in contrast with the other similar projects is its cost. There is an extensive array of investment choices in this city that begins with studio apartments worth Rs 16 LAKHs to villas worth Rs 8-10 CROREs. There will be Country Club, day school, hospital, hotels, hostels, water and adventure sports along with resorts and spas.
Many people have already started to make their investments in the hill city away from the maddening crowd of Pune and Mumbai.
